Which Pressure Canner Is Right for You?

All American 1930 Canning
Which Pressure Canner Is Right for You?

There's something deeply satisfying about opening your pantry to rows of home-canned tomatoes, soups, and stock — jars you filled yourself, sealed with a canner that's built to last for generations. Pressure canning is the gold standard for safely preserving low-acid foods like meats, vegetables, and broths, and it's a skill that pays off season after season. But with several sizes in our lineup, picking the right one isn't always obvious.

Are you new to canning? Upgrading from a smaller model? Or just doing some research before you commit? Wherever you're starting from, we're here to help you find the canner that fits your kitchen, your batch sizes, and your goals.

The 910 Pressure Cooker / Canner — 10.5 Quart

The 910 is our smallest model, holding 7 pint jars or 4 quart jars, and it's compatible with gas, electric, and flat top stoves. It's an ideal starting point for beginners, small households, or anyone canning in small batches. If you're testing the waters with pressure canning for the first time, or you simply don't need a lot of capacity, the 910 gives you everything you need without taking up excess space on your stovetop or in your cabinets.

The 915 Pressure Cooker / Canner — 15.5 Quart

Step up to the 915 and you get 10 pint jars or 7 quart jars of capacity, still compatible with gas, electric, and flat top stoves. This is our "everyday" canner — a noticeable jump in capacity from the 910 that suits home canners who are ready to process larger batches on a regular basis.

The 921 Pressure Cooker / Canner — 21.5 Quart

The 921 is our most popular size, and for good reason. It fits 19 pint jars or 7 quart jars, works on gas, electric, and flat top stoves, and even comes in color options, making it a strong choice for home canning because its size handles the canning process efficiently without being cumbersome. It strikes a strong balance between capacity and usability, making it a great fit for serious home canners who want to preserve more without sacrificing convenience.

The 925 Pressure Cooker / Canner — 25 Quart

The 925 offers a modest increase over the 921, with the same 19 pint jar and 7 quart jar capacity but added flexibility for larger loads. It's compatible with gas, electric, and flat top stoves, making it a solid option if you want a little extra room to work with while keeping the same jar layout you're used to.

The 930 Pressure Cooker / Canner — 30 Quart

Built for high-volume canning, the 930 holds 19 pint jars or 14 quart jars — a meaningful increase in quart jar capacity over the smaller models, especially useful when canning meat, poultry, or fish in larger batches. It's designed especially for canners who work primarily with quart jars. Keep in mind the 930 is compatible with gas and electric stovetops only, as its weight could damage a flat top surface.

The 941 Pressure Cooker / Canner — 41.5 Quart

The 941 is the largest model in our lineup, holding an impressive 30 pint jars or 20 quart jars, and it’s especially well suited to big batches of low-acid foods like venison, poultry, stock, and vegetables. It's built for serious homesteaders, hunters, and anyone preserving large quantities of food at once. Like the 930, the 941 is compatible with gas and electric stovetops but not flat tops, due to its weight.

Finding Your Fit: Choosing Pressure Canners

When you're choosing a pressure canner, think about three things: how much you can at once, what jar sizes you use most, and what kind of stovetop you're working with. Small households and beginners will feel right at home with the 910 or 915. Serious home canners looking for the sweet spot of capacity and ease of use will love the 921 or 925. And if you're processing large harvests, hunting seasons, or preserving in bulk, the 930 or 941 will keep up with you.

However much you can, however often you can — we build our canners to be an investment of a lifetime, made to be passed down and used for generations. Have questions about which model is right for your kitchen? Reach out — we're happy to help you find your perfect fit.
